Activities and projects of ČRDM
Bambiriáda
Bambiriáda is ČRDM’s most important contribution to the support of public promotion of non-formal education of children and youth and organisations working with/for them. In 2006 this large four days long presentation of children and youth’s activities was held for the 8th time in 26 towns throughout the whole Czech Republic and was visited by more than 170 000 children, young people, parents and politicians.
Publications and media
Archa is ČRDM’s information magazine on education and use of the leisure time of children and youth. 8 issues are published every year, each with a different main topic.
ČRDM runs information portal www.adam.cz – the main “meeting place” of children and youth’s associations with the public.
PR and lobbying activities
Award of the ČRDM “Přístav” – The award is intended for public administration’s politicians for their support of non-formal education activities of/with children and youth. In 2006 it was awarded to five personalities who can be good examples to the others.
Amendment of the Civil Code – ČRDM was represented on negotiations regarding the complex novel of this important act, which will also govern the area of association of citizens. ČRDM acquired a grant for organisation of two seminars, where the representatives of youth NGOs have the opportunity to express their standpoints and thus influence the shape of the forthcoming code.
Other lobbying – ČRDM’s workgroup “State” holds many discussions with politicians to get their support and to lobby for an acceptable legal environment and reasonable regulations for youth work.
Exhibition – ČRDM organised in both chambers of the Czech Parliament photography exhibition of buildings which were devastated during the period of communism and now were given to youth organisations and need funds for renovation.
Support to participation and competitions
Round tables with interesting personalities – ČRDM, in co-operation with National Parliament of Children and Youth, invites interesting personalities (e.g. members of Czehc and European Parliament, sportsmen, specialists in youth issues) to meet young people, answer their questions and share their ideas about youth work and its importance in today’s society with them.
ČRDM co-operates with the Chamber of historical monuments on the competition “My country in the heart of Europe”. The main aim of the competition is to motivate children and young people to be interested in their country’s cultural heritage and its protection.
Campaigns
ČRDM is the national coordinator of the campaign All Different – All Equal. The aim of this pan-European campaign is to encourage and enable young people to participate in building of peaceful societies based on human rights, diversity and inclusion, in a spirit of respect, tolerance and mutual understanding.
ČRDM participates in the campaign Young People: For a Life without Tobacco? Its main objective is to inform about tobacco policies, as well as to increase the possibilities of youth organisations in the EU and national policy making, particularly concerning Health and Tobacco.
Support to the associations
In ČRDM’s office, qualified employees devote their time and skills to the service and support of member organisations.
Insurance – ČRDM arranges and administrates casualty, travel and liability insurance for children and youth’s associations.
Seminars – every year ČRDM organises various seminars and discussions focusing on actual issues and problems, for its member organisations. Well-known is the regular annual Meeting in the Senate of the Czech Parliament, where the most important issues of the support of non-formal education are discussed with the politicians.
